Why you may ask? Why indeed!!! OK I took some time off. Just a little for now. I cant tell you how it feels to be care free for just a little bit. Yes, just a little bit. So I do have some home projects to do in and out the house, but thats OK. At least these projects benefit me and my household directly, so it is a "Labor of Love." So there you go!
OK so you know this week is Thanksgiving...........well those who live in the good old U..S.. of A sure do as well as the expats out there around the world. For those of you who dont know what the heck is going on just Google it. HA!!! Hey they can do a better job for the most part than me.
"So anyway what does Thanksgiving mean to Dave?" Oh gee I thought you would never ask and yes that voice sounded just like a caring "Cyber Mom"! I just know it couldnt be those voices again............ well I just hope after all the time I spent with the thera............. OK we are getting too deep and off the subject or are we???
OK then Thanksgiving means: (to me) time to give thanks. OK subject closed. Now lest move on to the meat of the matter and............ what, um, well, I guess that was a little weak. Right? Yes, it was and OK since you are twisting my arm I will "Tell All".........ooh, aww and all that jazz! No really I do want to say that I feel that it is a time that I give thanks to God for all I have or dont have. Some things I am truly happy for not having. For the most part I live a life free of burden. Ah burden indeed! One mans burden may be another mans ........ OK I cant think of an opposite word but you are a most educated audience and I am sure that you "get it". I am oh so grateful all year long for the positive things in my life and there are many. I thank God for providing me a life partner that keeps me strong. My Dear Wife means the world to me and I consider that a true blessing from above. I thank God for the folks that surround me. The list is sort, but of high quality. OK I dont want to get too religious, but it is who I am. Love it, Hate it it does not matter.
As always I will be cooking up a storm of treasured favorites for all that care to come and share. Yes I am the only (ZC)er in the bunch and thats OK. I dont force my beliefs on anyone when it comes to anything and I dont alienate myself from the world because they dont agree with me. That would be foolish. Those who practice that have all the right too, because it is their conviction and right. As for me I will stay strong in what I believe and respect others. I dont live in a commune. I have to deal with the real world and "it is what it is" as they say or do they? HAhaha!!! "That laugh... again.... just when I ....." Good grief!
Well for the most part the menu will be:
- Jive Turkey (OK it is just an herb infused roasted turkey)
- Smoked Turkey (yes store bought... too lazy to make my own)
- Roasted root vegetables with olive oil, and Herbes de Provence (from scratch)
- Traditional southern cornbread stuffing (from scratch)
- Traditional green bean casserole (from scratch)
- Sweet potato casserole with crumb topping (from scratch)
- Southern peach crumb bars (from scratch)
- Turkey gravy (from jar)
- Cranberry sauce (can: whole berry and jellied) I doll it up a little
- Cocktail size croissant rolls
- Chili con queso with tortilla chips for an appetizer (we are in Texas)
- Assorted wines. Beer? Sure bring your own.
Did I miss something? Hey this is a meal to share with all and I do enjoy cooking all of these goodies and not so goodies. My choice. Yes, isnt nice to have choices? I have to agree thank you very much.
OK tomorrow is a crazy day for me. I will be picking up my nephew form school. He has a half day and will be helping me do some much needed yard work Hey I live in The Woodlands home of endless leaves and pine needles. We will work half day or so Tuesday and half day Wednesday then I need to start cooking that night. Yes busy, but I have the week off and dont report back to work until next Monday.
Did I forget to mention that we are having some beautiful weather here. Sunny and cool and it will last the week. I dont know about the others, but I intend eat on the patio. Yes indeed! OK that is all for now short I know. HA!!!
