Electro Cut Your Body Fat Study Shows 5 6 cm and 4 9 Reduction in Waist Body Fat in Young Women in 6 Weeks

No sweat, just some wires? Study shows: It does not take much effort to lose belly fat.
Liposuction is an invasive procedure that is not without risk. Against that background its no wonder that people are marketing alternative methods like high-frequency current therapy as allegedly safe go-to methods to rid yourself of unwanted body fat. The question is: Do these currents actually help you to lose body fat? That is: Can electrocuting your belly "electro-cut" significant amounts of body fat? Practitioners who use this technology will say "yes". From a scientific standpoint, though, the question is difficult to answer, because the use of high-frequency current therapy has been given little attention in the scientific community.

As Kim et al. point out in a recent paper in the J. Phys. Ther. Sci., some previous studies have failed to provide evidence for the effectiveness of high-frequency current therapy in women with obesity, whereas more recent studies have indicated that a high-frequency current therapy decreases female abdominal obesity (Kang. 2005; Han. 2010). Accordingly, their latest study aimed to determine whether high-frequency current therapy can be effectively used to reduce female abdominal obesity.
Some people claim coffee applied to the skin will also burn fat, but... well, you better drink it

To this ends, the researchers recruited twenty-two female volunteers who were randomly allocated to either the experimental group (EG) (n = 12; age, 21.17 ± 0.72 years; weight, 63.17 ± 7.91 kg; height, 159.63 ± 4.56 cm) or the control group (CG) (n = 10; age, 21.10 ± 0.74 years; weight, 68.79 ± 11.73 kg; height, 161.69 ± 5.25 cm). Inclusion criteria were as follows:
  • a body mass index (BMI) of ≥23 kg/m2 and a waist-hip circumference ratio of  ≥ 0.8013
  • no past or present neurological, musculoskeletal, or cardiopulmonary disorders that would have affected health condition;
  • no smoking and drinking habits; and
  • no psychological problems.
Futhermore, pregnant women were excluded as well. The subjects of both groups were asked to keep a regular dietary habit during the experimental process. A nutritionist drew up a diet plan of 2,000 to 2,500 kcal/day across 3 meals (8 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6 p.m.) for the 6-week intervention. In addition, subjects were asked to avoid extra activities and exercises beyond daily routine activities.
Figure 1. Changes in BMI, waist circumference, subcutaneous body fat and total body fat (%) after 18 sessions of high-frequency current therapy in Korean women (Kim. 2015).
Only the subjects in the EG group were subjected to high-frequency current therapy, with a frequency of 0.5 Mhz. The treatments were performed exclusively on the abdominal region while subjects were supine using specific equipment (CWM-9200; Chungwoo Medical, Seoul, South Korea) for 60 minutes, 3 times per week, for 6 weeks (a total of 18 sessions).
"High-frequency current therapy was performed in 2 phases: 2 sets of 15-minute applications of capacitive electric transfer (CET) and resistive electric transfer (RET) with the pulsed current option (current conduction time, 0.7 seconds; rest interval, 0.3 seconds) for the fist 3 weeks, followed by a 30-minute application of the CET and RET modes with continuous current conduction in the final 3 weeks. The intensity was individualized within a range of 6–7 mA to comfortably adjust the heating sensation during the intervention. An insulated electrode and a stainless steel electrode (8 cm in diameter) were used for the CET and RET modes, respectively. Conductive gel (Body Rubbing Cream; SA’COS, Incheon, South Korea) was used to facilitate skin moisture and current conduction, and high frequency current therapy was delivered by making circular motions of the electrode over the abdominal region at a moving speed of 5 cm/s, avoiding focused pressure on therapeutic areas" (Kim. 2015)
The comparison of the pre- vs. post-data showed here significant main effects of time with respect to waist circumference, abdominal obesity, subcutaneous fat mass, and body fat percentage, which differed significantly between the groups (see Figure 1), "suggesting the effects of high-frequency current therapy in decreasing obesity" (Kim. 2015).
Bottom line: I must say that I am impressed. I havent been there to control whether the scientists cheated, but considering the fact that the control group received the same controlled diet as the women in the experimental group, the loss of body fat and the reduction in waist circumference that was achieved within only 6 weeks in young women is impressive.

High frequency currents are also been used for cellulite treatment, but there are other options, as well | learn more
In the end, the mechanism of action is simple and is believed to rely mostly on the heat induced dilatation of subcutaneous vessels and the subsequent facilitation of the lipolytic process (Song. 2006). Which would also explain why the effect was highly localized and there were no significant inter-group difference with respect to the BMI of the women in the study at hand. A study that is yet limited by the low number of participants, a lack of safety data (no blood analyses, for example), the absence of measurements of the reductions in visceral fat and the lack of a rigid dietary and activity control as it would be possible in a metabolic chamber | Comment on Facebook!

5 Exercises To Look Feel Younger No Matter Your Age

A new study published by Mayo Clinic found that exercising for short-term results — endurance exercise for weight loss, or ultra-heavy weight lifting to beef up — may actually be counterproductive for longevity and health.
We have known this for a long time, which is why we advocate a resistance exercise program that focuses instead on developing the five traits associated with youthfulness: flexibility, speed, strength, good posture, and leanness. When people engage in the right kind of exercise, they dont become haggard, sore, injured, tired, and stiff. Whats more, resistance exercises, when done correctly, help people feel better and live longer.
No matter what your age — even if you start at 80 — its possible to regain the size, flexibility, and medical markers of a much younger person. Three decades of research and experience as trainers and athletes have shown us that just 30 minutes a day of speed-lifting light hand weights, a regular practice of managing stress, and eating healthfully can make your whole body flexible, strong, fast, lean, and properly aligned — all components of youthfulness.
Here are five ways to look and feel younger, regardless of your biological age.
1. Get flexible.
Flexibility is the capacity of the muscles and tendons to elongate or shorten for the purpose of movement — that is, of moving bones in key parts of the body. We lose flexibility because of how we live, not because we age. One way to regain flexibility is to do the same stretches every day until you eventually can stand from a full squat, or bend over and touch your toes, or bring your nose to your knees sitting with your legs outstretched.
2. Be strong.
When we age, our muscles tend to atrophy and our joints tend to wear away. Eventually we become weaker and slower, and we develop chronic pain and are vulnerable to osteoporosis and brittle bones. The best way to get strong is to start lifting weights. Its better for the body to lift light weights quickly than to lift heavy weights slowly. This is how you build up flexible, strong muscles.
3. Speed up.
One of the hallmarks of old age is slowing down. When we age, we walk slower, get out of chairs and cars slower, and react more slowly. Our reflexes are delayed, which can lead to falling. But you can become faster at any age. Getting faster is a function of these other four youthfulness factors. But one way to start getting faster is simply to speed up. Every time you take a walk, push yourself to sprint for 10 seconds or so, and do this intermittently.
4. Get lean.
Leanness is the optimal percentage of fat to muscle. When people age, they lose muscle and gain fat, which can trigger a cascade of health problems. Some simple ways to lose fat, but not muscle, are to eat twice as many fruits and vegetables as any other food at lunch and dinner; eat every three hours, but only the amount that can be burned in two hours; and eat nutritionally complete foods at every snack and meal — foods with protein, sugar, fiber, minerals, and vitamins in the right proportions. Avoid endurance exercising like stationary biking or treadmilling for burning calories. All youre doing is wearing out your joints.
5. Straighten up.
For good posture, all weightlifters end their training sessions by decompressing their spines. To fight the forces of gravity — the stooping and slumping one often sees in elderly people — daily decompression is crucial. We recommend an inversion table — a piece of equipment you lie on with your feet hooked under at the top and your head at the end tilting downward, gently stretching out your spine. Lifting light weights and doing floor exercises also strengthens your back and abdomen, helping you stand and sit erect.

2014 The 5 Bite Diet Day 18

Today I jest rested for the most part. I did get up and around to do some chores around the house. I also cooked some chicken wings and pork ribs. It was real easy. I just seasoned them and slow cooked them in the oven for several hours. They came out with lots of flavor and were very tender. At this time I will continue the diet and see where it takes me. My long term plan is to continue eating zero carb after all is said and done. I guess for me, the only problem I have is being tired more than before the diet. I do have a better outlook on eating and can appreciate portion control, which was my main focus of the diet besides weight loss. Another aspect of it was to get me back on zero carb. If I can at least go 30 days on this diet I will feel that I achieved something. I know it is just a number, but if I can stay zero carb that long I feel that I will have a chance to remain on it for the long haul. Almost 6 pounds down the slow way like most say is the right way. I have so much fat reserves that I am not concerned about the intake of food right now. I drink lots of water to keep me hydrated which is much more important than food. A person can last a long time with little to no food, but water deprivation can be fatal in as little as 3 days. I know that time can vary from person to person and environment. Thats it for now.

5 31 2012 The 5 Bite Diet Day 17

Good day all. My Spirits are great and my Energy level is good.

Just call me Battling Bruno! I am slugging it out and taking ground! Round by round I am advancing and looking for the prize. If I get knocked down I rise again and again. Whatever it takes to make it to the next round. I have to be strong, I have to be victorious. I have no choice.

Things are OK, but they sure as to hell could be better. Hey thats Life. The 5 Bite Diet has taught me some tough lessons. It thought me that for "ME" carbs for the most part are taboo. It is what it is for "ME". I envy those who can limit the amount of carbs they eat and move on. Not the case for "ME". Oh well???

5 Reasons to Exercise That Aren’t Weight Loss

Why you shouldnt give up the gym

Despite conventional calorie-burning wisdom, some people appear to not lose weight when they exercise, says a new study published inThe Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. In fact, some actually gain weight, and it’s not all muscle mass.
The study, by Arizona State University in Phoenix researchers, looked at 81 sedentary, overweight women who exercised three times a week for 30 minutes in a lab. After 12 weeks, the researchers found that some women lost weight while others gained weight. But when they tried to identify what was causing the differences, they couldn’t come to any conclusions. “In reality, most people do not achieve or sustain weight loss, no matter what method they try,” wrote New York Times writer Gretchen Reynolds on Wednesday.
Basically, major bummer. But there are many other reasons to exercise besides trying to shed a few pounds, and they’re equally important for your health:
1. Memory Loss: Chronic inflammation and hormonal imbalances are a couple of factors that can play a part in memory loss, and exercise can help both. Exercise promotes better blood flow through the body, and the brain works better with a healthy blood supply. For example, a 2012 study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease showed that people who spent time on a stationary bike had better memory recall than those who were sedentary.
2. Stress: Exercise has long been prescribed as a way to burn off steam and relax. It’s even recommended as a way to fight depression. How? Exercise keeps the brain occupied, and keeps the stress hormone cortisol in check which can lower symptoms for anxiety and restlessness, according to The Exercise Cure, by sports medicine physician Dr. Jordan Metzl. After a rough day at work or before a big exam or interview, even just a walk around the block can ease nerves.
3. Fatigue: It may sound counterintuitive, but working out can actually make you less tired than skipping the gym. A 2007 University of Georgia study showed that sedentary people could lower their fatigue by 65% if they started engaging in regular low intensity exercise. Increasing energy through exercise is also a safer and cheaper alternative to turning to quick fixes like energy drinks.
4. Cardiovascular disease: Getting regular exercise does the heart some good. In a 2012 study, researchers found that people who partook in moderate intensity exercise like brisk walking compared to leisurely walking reduced their chances of developing risk factors for heart disease and diabetes. The effect might be related to exercise’s benefits on lowering inflammation in the body.
5. Lower back pain: Back pain is a very common ailment, and studies have shown that the right kind of exercises like strength training can lower pain. Exercise is also one of the simplest ways to protect your body from future injuries.

5 Restaurant Scams That Sabotage Weight Loss

“We gotta order a pepperoni pie,” my friend Jeff said Sunday afternoon. “And some of those cheese sticks.”
He was over at my house watching football, but was more enraptured by the food ads than by Tom Brady. As Brady scrambled for position to toss a deep pass, Jeff was wide open to receive an extra 2,000 calories of fat and carbs.
Seeing him salivate over the the cheesy come-ons, I couldn’t help but be struck by how much food marketers are like football teams, since they both employ a lot of misdirection. In the NFL, the quarterback shouts out confusing signals like “Red 74 Oklahoma hut hut!” and the running backs act like decoys, pretending to carry the ball as the QB drops back.
Restaurants do the same thing when marketing their food, filling their menus with chicanery and deception, especially when it comes to “healthy” offerings. Eat This, Not That! took a hard look at the healthy head-fakes restaurants use. Here’s how to muster your defenses and win the weight loss game when you eat out.
(For more proven weight-loss tips, read our special new Eat This, Not That! report on the 20 Habits Skinny People Live By.)
“Healthy” Head-Fake #1
Healthy words describing unhealthy foods
Take two popular menu items: A Carrot Walnut Muffin or the Chocolate Croissant. Which one’s healthier? Surely your health-conscious conscience jumps at the thought of starting your day with carrots and walnuts, yet the truth is fuzzier. Au Bon Pain’s healthy sounding muffin offering packs 540 calories—plus 7 grams more fat, double the carbs (73 g vs. 34 g), and the four times the sugar of a 300-calorie Starbucks Chocolate Croissant! Remember, “muffin” is just a way to get you to eat cake for breakfast.
Best Defense: Find the unhealthiest word on any menu item, and let that be your guide. After all, the calorie count of a fish fry is not about the fish, it’s about the fry. (Arm yourself in the grocery store, too—avoid these fattening 5 “Health” Foods Worse Than a Donut.)
“Healthy” Head-Fake #2
Foods on the “low carb” menu
Anything “low” in one thing is usually high in something else. Consider Applebee’s Low Carb Breakfast Bowl, which is super low-carb but starts your day with 52 grams of fat—nearly an entire day’s worth. This 660-calorie meal is like dumping an entire farm’s worth of animals into one heart-stopping combination of eggs, sausage, bacon and cheese. Their Ham, Egg & Cheese Biscuit won’t make Dr. Atkins happy, but it will save you 210 calories and 28 grams of fat.
Best Defense: Eat for balance. Don’t be fooled by eating only “low-carb” or “low-fat.”
“Healthy” Head-Fake #3
A menu calls meals “snacks:
Your restaurant may call it a “snack,” but your dietician would call it “dinner.” Earlier this year, Dunkin’ Donuts made headlines after calling a 660-calorie bacon ranch chicken sandwich a “snack,” part of a rebranding campaign—“We’re not moving into lunch,” the CEO told AP. “We’re in snacking.” (With a snack like that, who’d need lunch?) Meanwhile, Arby’s offers a “Snack and Save” menu with alleged snacks like the 550-calorie Crispy Onion Mighty Minis, which also come with 30 grams of fat and half a day’s sodium.
Best Defense: Snack, but snack healthy.  A recent Nutrition Journal study found that nutritious snacks promote weight loss. The key word there is nutritious. Fruit and nuts are snacks, but two mini onion burgers? Not so much. A good snack is in the 100-250 calorie range. Indulge guilt-free in any of these 50 Best Snack Foods for Weight Loss.
“Healthy” Head-Fake #4
The salad “decoys” trick
Restaurants have discovered a brilliant way to get you to order cheaper, more caloric food—they give you the option to order something else. It’s called “decoy marketing” in the restaurant trade. The idea is that punctuating a menu with healthy items like salads gives customers permission to order larger, junkier, more caloric meals than they would otherwise. A study at Boston University demonstrated how this worked; researchers saw French fries orders triple when salad was also an option. It’s a phenomenon experts have dubbed “vicarious goal fulfillment.” In other words, by simply acknowledging a healthy option, diners feel they have satisfied their dietary goals and can order whatever they want.
Best Defense: Remind yourself before you look at the menu that you’re on a mission to eat well. Remember that a burger has the same calorie count whether it’s next to the spring salad or the spring lamb.
“Healthy” Head-Fake #5
Good-for-you foods with bad-for-you toppings
When a restaurant chain makes its mark serving massive slabs of fat and calories, even their attempts at “lite” foods can be corrupted by an instinct to slather and garnish. Take, for example, Ruby Tuesday’s Avocado Grilled Chicken Sandwich. How bad could this be? Well, by serving you a jumbo portion and topping it with bacon, Swiss and mayonnaise, the chain has built a 1,311-calorie monster with 2,833 mg of sodium and 64 grams of fat.
Best Defense: Customize it. If you like the sound of a grilled chicken avocado sandwich, then ask them to serve you exactly that—and maybe ask for a little mayo on the side.

5 20 2012 The 5 Bite Diet Day 6

Hi there, Spirits and Energy levels are good.

Wow, some of those recent comments gave me a lot to think of. Yes, that can be dangerous. Hahaha!!! I am so focused on "Will I make it through today" that sometimes I forget that this is just a weight reduction diet and not 5 Bites For LIFE. Yes this is teaching me "Portion Control" but as the diet claims, I will be able to eat anything within my........... my.............. Bite Range? Did I just come up with a new catch phrase? Anyway like I said I will be able to eat anything.

OK that all sounds great, but like I commented I have grown to love meat. Fatty Meat like BEEF RIBS. Ohhh my mouth waters at the thought. Hey I am not kidding. No I am not, not at all. Before Zero Carb I was not a big meat eater. I ate mostly poultry in the form of chicken. I like pork, but I could live without it. I cant see myself ever giving Beef up unless it was doing me some kind of damage. Dont get me wrong. I like bacon, pork sausage and so on.

Someone just had to mention the "E" word. Yes, I have been avoiding that subject. The "E" word? Come on ........ everyone one knows the "E" word. Ya know .... EXERCISE!!! OK so I have lost more than 100 lbs in the past without an ounce of exercise, so what. Look I am no fitness guru, but I know that exercise will make me stronger and as I get older I see the difference in my strength. I cant speak for yall, but for me: I need to get off my lazy "ARSE" and start the workouts.

Dave bought an Elliptical and he has a Soloflex and he is letting them collect dust.
OK, busted. I am lazy, I guess. Alright do I see a promise coming about. Not yes, but: HELL YES!!! Starting, tomorrow I will at least start the Elliptical. There I said it. I will report it in my daily post. I am working on a Soloflex routine at this time. I was going to "Launch" my fitness part of my diet sometime this week, but since I am being put on the "Spot" by C-TX and others I guess I will step it up.HA!

No more waiting. Drum roll please:

Day 6 = (1.8) = 08.4 lbs loss current weight: 181.6 lbs (oh, yeah)

Tomorrow will mark a week on the 5 Bite Diet uninterrupted by illness. Jeez I was beginning to think I was cursed lol!!! I want a straight 30 days without anything getting in the way. No EXCUSES. Just pure effort. I experienced unrelated illnesses the first two times around.

Have a Healthy Day my Friends and Family. I have about three weeks to go. Wow where will this diet take me? Lets find out together.

Todays Menu: Black coffee, H20, Seltzer Water, Chinese Pork Steam Bun and Supreme Pizza.

Tell it to my HEART,
Cheers,

Dave

5 15 2012 The 5 Bite Diet Day 1

Greetings Friends and Family. My Spirits are in orbit. My Energy levels are very good.

So today is the first day to start my next 5 bite diet challenge. 30 days? Well I am not sure. I have a feeling it will be a bit longer. I dont plan to stop until I reach............... until I reach............. I just dont know.

According to the BMI chart I could go down as low as 122 lbs. That would put me at an optimum of a BMI of 18.5. The good Doc recommends that you get as close to possible to that margin to achieve better health. I will do my own research in that area for supporting documents.

Dave at 122 lbs? I have a hard time imagining that. I really do. Dave in the 150s or maybe the 140s. Not so much a problem. I really dont know. What I do know is that I am very much overweight and I need to get to the next stage in my life. I want to get there by the age of 50 which is not far away at all.

As far as the 5 Bite Diet goes: Well in my uneducated opinion I agree with it, but not 100%. I still do think that it makes a difference on the quality of food that you consume. So again in my little uneducated opinion I feel that grass fed beef is of a higher quality than hormone infested meat and so on. What do I eat. I eat what I can afford. Right now I am at the mercy of the regular old grocery store. That is for now. My sisters have been talking with me about buying a whole grass fed calf and dividing it equally between us. That might just make the difference. Hey it is a start. When? No time soon. Yet there is hope.

Look-It: I dont go blind into anything if I can help it. I look, learn, listen and try to make reason of things. I have an open mind and I will exercise it and try to make sense of what is happening around me. I will try this venture and see what happens.

I did not do as well on my little week of maintenance. I gained 5 lbs which puts my at at starting weight or approximately 190 lbs. I way overate at a birthday party on Saturday and did not do myself any favors on Sunday either. I was not hungry at all. I just overate. No excuses. I will always report the truth no matter how embarrassing it is. If I dont then why waste the time. Yours and mine. I can huddle up with a box of Ding Dongs, a Family size bag of Doritos and wash it all down with some Dr. Pepper. Yum or is that YIKES to the third degree!!!

So how will I format this? I did not like the way I did it before because it was so misaligned. That being said I will stick to that format until I find something better.

Results thus far:

Day 1 = (00.0) = 00.0 Loss or Gain Current Weight: 190 lbs

Ohhhh, Ahhhh and all that JAZZ!!! No surprises here. Heck its day one duh! OK then, now for the menu and other information. Well I will keep that to the end of the post as before.

Have a Healthy Day my Friends and Family. I have laid a path before me. Lets see where it leads.

Todays Menu: Black coffee, H20, Seltzer Water, Andouille Sausage and a Pork Steamed Bun.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Dave

6 10 2012 The 5 Bite Diet Day 27

Top of the day. My Spirits are great. My Energy levels are good.

Yet another short post. Things are fine. I am feeling good about all that has happened. I have to keep thinking about the prize. Yes, the prize at the end of all of this. There is so much other work that I need to do about my health I am not happy with my over all "state of being". I have a few improvements to tend to sooner or later. I just need to knock them down one at a time. That works for me. When I try too many things at once it gets bogged up and I dont finish what I start, well at least for the most part.

This post will catch me up. Tomorrow will be three weeks on this diet. Time has went by very fast. So far 7 lbs lost. The key for me is to slow down a bit and conserve energy. 5 16 2012 The 5 Bite Diet Day 2

Good day. My Spirits are great. My Energy levels are good.

OK day 2 in progress and feeling great. I have a really good feeling about this, and I will try not to get too ahead of myself. Now if I can just stay healthy during this period things should progress the way it should without outside interference. HA!!!

I just hate obsessing about food. I love to eat. I love the taste of food, the textures, and the smell. I want to think of food as just fuel, but I can’t. How can I when I a somewhat an armature cook/chef or food artesian.  Food in my hands is like clay to a sculptor. It’s like canvas to a painter. You get the message.

So that is how it is with me. I don’t regret it one bit other than I have handled or mishandled my food intake for way too long. Choices………….. we all must make choices. Which one is right? Which one is wrong? How do we know? For me I have to experiment. Yes that nasty word that begins with an “E”. Yes, I have fallen on my face at times ………….. OK many times.

That being said I have also have had some success. There were some “doubters” and some “haters” that thought I would fail. They thought I was crazy. Crazy? Hmm ……… I need to think about that one, crazy huh …………. Or do I? HA!!! Anyway I can look them in the face and say guess “WHO” is not at 280 lbs anymore? Yet, they still criticize me on how I have lost the weight. Go figure.

Dave what’s all this jibber jabber? Get on with the results, will ya? Sure why not.

Results thus far:

Day 1 = (0.0) = 00.0             current weight: 190 lbs (just starting)
Day 2 = (2.0) = 02.0 lbs loss current weight: 188 lbs (nice)

Great start, yes? Maybe. Yall all know those first few pounds I usually credit to water weight. So the loss is defiantly good if not great, but I will see where I am at on......... lets say Day 7 or 8 and then my Friends and Family, then we will see what we will see. Ya see? HA!!!

I will make an effort to keep my homemade update chart as "even" as possible. I may have to add a zero here and there to balance it out, but it should be easy to read and reflect what is really happening . So how low can I go? Lets find out together.

I always appreciate encouragement and support. I will work on issues with folks having trouble joining the blog. Just continue to email me as you have in the past. The email for this blog is the same as the other blog. That never changes no matter how many blogs I open or close. I still have a lot of small details to workout. I will get there soon I hope.

Have a Healthy Day my Friends and Family. Off to a good start. Time to be positive and focused at the task at hand.

Todays Menu: Black coffee, H20, Seltzer Water, Andouille Sausage and Supreme Pizza.

Just Chillin

Dave
