Weight Loss Trick Using Bathroom Scale For Daily Weigh Ins May Help You Slim Fast

After chowing down on endless appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and eating the Christmas dinner leftovers, it’s no surprise losing weight ranks high on our New Year’s resolution list. Diet pills, juice cleanses, and gym memberships will take precedence in the New Year among weight loss hopefuls, but there is a 10-second weight loss trick you can do at home to shed the pounds. According to a recent study published in the journal PLOS ONE the more you weigh yourself, the more weight you will lose.
Most weight loss programs do not encourage daily weigh-ins because they can cause dieters to hate their body for no reason. Jillian Michaels, a health and wellness expert, believes weighing yourself daily will not help you stay on track and can actually become a daily torture ritual.
“I recommend that people weigh themselves once a week, at the same time every week. Weighing yourself every day can have a negative impact on you,” she wrote on her website.
Since regular self-weighing has been associated with successful weight loss and maintenance, Elina Helander and co-authors from Tampere University of Technology in Finland sought to examine the link between time differences of weight measurements and the corresponding weight changes through self-weight data. A total of 2,838 weight measurements (up to a years worth of weigh-ins) from 40 overweight individuals (with a body mass index of 25 and over) who indicated that weight loss was a personal goal or concern were analyzed in the study. These individuals were attending a health-promoting program.
The findings revealed weight loss was related to how often individuals weighed themselves. The average time that participants could go between weighing without gaining weight was 5.8 days, or about a weekly weigh-in. Participants who went more than a week without weighing themselves were more likely to gain weight. However, this observational study cannot prove causation because these findings may be attributed to the fact that less serious dieters weigh themselves less or that dieters who stop losing weight stop weighing themselves.
"The more often you weigh yourself, the more weight you lose," Helander said in the press release. Self-weighing frequency and body satisfaction were not found to correlate in a weight loss trial, but increased self-weighing frequency was associated with greater weight loss. Frequent self-weighing is not recommended for all individuals. For some, it can be associated with negative outcomes such as an increase in body dissatisfaction or decreased self-esteem during slow progress or falling short of weight loss goals. Overall, weighing yourself at least once a week may help you lose weight while weighing yourself every day may help you stay on track.
A similar 2005 study published in the journal Annals of Behavioral Medicine found daily weighing may be better for weight loss and weight control than weekly or less frequent weighing. The participants who weighed themselves every day lost about 12 pounds over the course of two years, while those who weighed themselves every week lost only 6 pounds. Those who never weighed on their own gained about 4 pounds.
Weight naturally fluctuates throughout the week, and most people weigh the least on Wednesday. This concept is known as the weight loss cycle. Typically, everyone loses weight on weekdays and gains weight on weekends. However, what separates the slim from the heavy is how much they lose during the weekdays.
"The bottom line is: If you want to lose weight, its best to weigh yourself every day. But if you weigh yourself only once a week, do it on Wednesday because that will give you the most accurate reading,” said Dr. Brian Wansink, director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab and author of Slim by Design: Mind Eating Solutions for Everyday Life.

Lose Weight Fast How to Do It Safely

Working on weight loss? Then you probably want results -- fast. Let me save you some time: skip the fad diets. Their results dont last. And you have healthier options you can start on -- today!

You can safely lose 3 or more pounds a week at home with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, says weight loss counselor Katherine Tallmadge, RD.
How to Lose Weight Fast

If you burn 500 more calories than you eat every day for a week, you should lose about 1-2 pounds.

If you want to lose weight faster, youll need to eat less and exercise more.

For instance, if you take in 1,050 to 1,200 calories a day, and exercise for one hour per day, you could lose 3-5 pounds in the first week, or more if you weigh more than 250 pounds. Its very important not to cut calories any further -- thats dangerous.

Limiting salt and starches may also mean losing more weight at first -- but thats mostly fluids, not fat.

"When you reduce sodium and cut starches, you reduce fluids and fluid retention, which can result in up to 5 pounds of fluid loss when you get started," says Michael Dansinger, MD, of NBCs The Biggest Loser show.

Diets for Fast Weight Loss

Dansinger recommends eating a diet that minimizes starches, added sugars, and animal fat from meat and dairy foods. For rapid weight loss, he recommends focusing on fruits, veggies, egg whites, soy products, skinless poultry breasts, fish, shellfish, nonfat dairy foods, and 95% lean meat.

Here are more tips from Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, author of The Flexitarian Diet :
  • Eat vegetables to help you feel full.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Get tempting foods out of your home.
  • Stay busy -- you dont want to eat just because youre bored.
  • Eat only from a plate, while seated at a table. No grazing in front of the fridge.
  • Dont skip meals.
Keeping a food journal -- writing down everything you eat -- can also help you stay on track.

"Even if you write it down on a napkin and end up throwing it away, the act of writing it down is about being accountable to yourself and is a very effective tool for weight loss," says Bonnie Taub Dix, MA, RD, author of Read It Before You Eat It .

Besides jotting down what you ate, and when, you might also want to note how you were feeling right before you ate it. Were you angry, sad, or bored? We often focus so much on foods and calories, but our emotions are a huge part of our eating habits.

If you see a persistent pattern in your emotional eating, please consider talking to a counselor about it. They can be a big help in finding other ways to handle your feelings.

Tips to keep on track on The Fast Metabolism Diet

Tips to keep on track on The Fast Metabolism Diet

As we go on in our fast metabolism diet journey,

we already noticed the changes on our body. Were losing weight, were feeling good, were sleeping better, and weve overcome the horrible symptoms of sugar and caffeine withdrawal. Were slowly adapting our body into a healthy lifestyle. But sometimes, no matter how dedicated we are, there is always that little devil that provokes us in going off track. Temptations are everywhere, ever experienced drooling over a delicious hamburger and a cool-drenching soft drinks? Thats called self-sabotage.
The little devil is telling us that "Its okay to eat the food. Go ahead. Its delicious, I am craving for it." For those who are struggling against this nasty little evil, your angel will be on the rescue. Here are the tips you can use to deal and save yourself from self-sabotage.
1. Change up your start day
Most festivities happened in weekends and this is where temptation is in a high risk. With your colleagues and friends visiting in your home, or if you decided to have an outdoor activities with your friends it is hard to avoid these delicious foods. And with Phase 3 hitting on weekends, we can easily be overwhelmed and tend to cheat, because of the free choices of foods and feast we eat during this phase. Instead of starting Phase 1 on Monday and have Phase 3 on weekends, you can change your week map to control yourself and get on track. Start Phase 1 on Wednesday instead. This way your Phase 2 will fall on weekends. Your food choices in this phase are more narrow than the free and heaven food choices we got on Phase 3.
2. Jot down notes and plan ahead
Its important to write your meal map in advance in the upcoming week. It will keep you on track on what your meal map for the upcoming week and your brain will be expecting these meals for you to eat. You can also write down how you felt every time you eat. This will help you track when do you actually feel tempted to get off track. Lets take for example, most fast metabolism dieters often despise Phase 2, in this phase do you actually had the highest tendency to give in temptation? If yes, you can change your recipe you had for this phase the next week and see if theres an improvement or the craving still persists.
3. Take it 10 days at a time
If you find yourself consistently getting off track, maybe the four week program is too long for you. Try to have the diet in a 10-day time frame. Have 3 days of Phase 3 as your starting cycle, 2 days of Phase 1 and 2, then go back to the remaining three days to Phase 3. After this give yourself a four day off. But it doesnt mean that during the four day off, you will go completely off track. You can still use the tools to keep your metabolism on track. Youre just allowing your body to have some freedom from all the Phases. Since youre taking long days in Phase 3, your body should be satisfied and happy with the food your eating. After the four day off, head back into another 10 days again, starting with Phase 3.
4. Have someone to support you
Adjusting in healthy lifestyle and healing our metabolism is really hard especially if we became accustomed into indulging ourselves with poor, unhealthy lifestyle. You can find a buddy, or join our other fast metabolism dieters for extra help. Do the fast metabolism diet with them, in this way you can monitor each other and give advice to keep on track.

You can also mix up your food on the diet and mix up your schedule to see whats the best for you. It can keep your mind active and interested for the new adventures you go on in the fast metabolism diet program, and most of all, keep your metabolism on fire.

Breaking Weight Plateaus in The Fast Metabolism Diet!

Breaking Weight Plateaus in The Fast Metabolism Diet!

fast metabolism diet, weight plateaus

Now that youve started the fast metabolism diet, you were enthralled of the amazing changes the diet brought to your body. In the first few weeks you had lost weight, youre sleeping better, and the horrible symptoms of your sugar and caffeine withdrawal was finally gone! But what happens when your metabolism suddenly got struck? After two weeks or so, the needle of the scale isnt moving anymore. That really sounds frustrating isnt it? But hey! Dont stressed yourself up and get frustrated! We wouldnt want to jeopardize your fast metabolism diet program! Before you sulk yourself in the corner and chose to give everything up, we are on the rescue to helpyou! While we already posted strategies on overcoming slow weight problems, we know that you needed extra help in overcoming the weight plateaus (due to the years of chronic dieting and unhealthy lifestyle). To help you in getting over a weight plateau, heres what you can do!
1. Extend a Phase
As you go on the fast metabolism diet journey, know what phase you tend to lose more weight and where youre at the best condition. Example is, if you tend to lose more weight in Phase 2, you can extend this Phase to three days. So your meal map would be, 2 days of Phase 1, three days for Phase 2 and 2 days for Phase 3.  You can switch up the number of days of the Phase (as long as it is 2- 2 -3 ) and you can repeat this up to two weeks in a row.
2. Shift your grains
If you are having a hard time in whole grains, you can shift to grains with low carbs. Quinoa is the recommended grain to switch if youve been eating brown rice. If youve been eating quinoa, try switching to wild rice. If you still think grains gives you more trouble, try swapping a starchy vegetable for a grain in some meals. Example for this is instead of eating a quinoa with your steak, replace it with a sweet potato.
3. Blend some strategic vegetables.
Sometimes even though were eating healthy and nutritious foods most of us dont chew our food enoughfor easier digestion. Blending or pureeing your vegetables can help activate enzymes in the foods that help break down nutrients. Veggies like cucumber, radish, daikon radish, spinach and kale are good vegetables to blend and puree. Remember to add basil as this veggie is really a good plateau-buster.
4. Try cabbage tea
Cabbage, when boiled releases enzymes to the water and help to activate the production of bile to process fats. Boil 1/2 head of cabbage in water for about 30 minutes. You can drink the water (warm or chilled) as a tonic. Cabbage tea is also effective as a mild sleep aid. Try drinking 1/2 cup of cabbage tea before going to bed.
5. Pucker up
Lemons also aid in digestion and efficiently process proteins and nutrients. the peel of a lemon contains more nutrients than its juice, and its known for its ability to activate your gastric juice to stimulate digestion. With a vegetable peeler, peel the strips of the rind and add to glass jar or container. Add boiling water to cover and let it steep for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, juice the lemon. Strain the water into the cup and add the lemon juice. You can enjoy your lemon juice either hot or iced.
Here is an easy, unique and delicious way to mix up your foods and flood the body with a rainbow of fast metabolism phytonutrients. Use this as part of breakfast, lunch or as one of your fruit snacks on Phase 1.
Belly Flat Salad
Serves 1, Phase 1
Ingredients:
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup diced cucumber
1 cup diced papaya
1 teaspoon fresh cilantro
Mixall ingredients together and enjoy.
Weight plateaus are normal and natural in the cycle of weight loss and metabolism. So dont panic and get frustrated if you arent losing weight after a few days. Follow these tips to keep you on the right track and overcome the weight plateau. Most of all, dont forget that the fast metabolism diet program is a 28 day program. It took that long to heal your metabolism. So stay positive and just keep on moving forward until you completed the fast metabolism diet program!

Finding the Right Weight Loss Goal in the Fast Metabolism Diet

fast metabolism diet tips

When you started the fast metabolism diet program, you were asked what your ideal weight to lose is. Some of you might say, “Oh, that’s easy! I want to lose __ pounds.”  But have you ever wondered how to find the ideal weight loss for you? The ideal weight loss wherein you would be able to accomplish it within your desired timeframe... Where you would enjoyyour journey throughout the whole fast metabolism program... The ideal weight loss where you won’t feel frustrated because you weren’t able to obtain it at the end of the program... And most of all the ideal weight loss where you were living a healthy, happy and contented life...

As you can see, the weight loss in the fast metabolism diet not only deals with the number of pounds you lose, but most of all it dealswith the ideal weight loss where your life will become easier, healthier and happier. It’s important to know what yourideal weight loss is. Your ideal weight loss that is realistic, certainly doesn’tstress you out.

Guidelines in finding the right weight loss goal

1.       When did you feel the best?
Ask yourself when you felt the best moment while doing what you enjoyed the most. Was it when you run a mile or two with ease? When you played soccer with your colleagues and keep up for several hours? When you shopped the entire boutique and tried several beautiful dresses that fit your body perfectly? If so, what was your weight then? The answer to that question will serve as your ideal weight-loss goal then. Your weight in that “best moment” of yours made you happier, healthier, and energetic than ever before.

2.       If you have a lot to lose, start with losing 5-10% of your weight
If you have much weight to lose, you will have to take a long road ahead of you. But that’s no reason for you to be discouraged. You can start with smaller things, and eventually, will lead into bigger ones. Start your weight-loss goal with 10% of your body weight. Example for that is if you weighed 250 pounds, set your initial weight loss goal into 25 pounds. In this way you won’t feel the pressure or stress as you go on the fast metabolism diet journey. Be motivated and keep on engaging the program until you’ve reached your ultimate weight-loss goal. Read the tips to keep motivated as you go on the fast metabolism diet program.

3.       When you’re so close in your goal, reassess
There is nothing more frustrating than to know you weren’t able to lose the last 3, or even 1 pound to your ideal weight. Well, who wouldn’t? If you wanted to weigh 100 pounds at the end of the program yet you actually weighed 103 pounds, I bet anyone would really be annoyed or frustrated with that. So close, yet you didn’t able to reach it. Your initial reaction is certainly acceptable, but before you indulged yourself in self-loathing, frustrations and possibly depression (And we don’t want that!) Reassess yourself first. What is the improvement the weight loss did to your life? Are you feeling better and healthier than before? Are you sleeping better? Is your skin glower than before? If your weight loss improved your life for the better, does the last 3 pound really matter? Probably not.At this point, you’ve actually reachedthe ideal weight loss for you.

As you see, weight loss is not just the number of pounds you lose. Like DIET, we have a different definition of weight loss now. Forget about those numbers, we’re not doing Math in this diet! We want you to have an ideal weight that will improve your self-esteem, makes you healthier and happier in life.

  • Fish – Try smoked salmon and cucumbers instead of chicken for dinner and beef jerky snacks on Phase 2. Don’t forget fish for dinner! Fish that are delicious and easy to cook includes Cod, flounder and Halibut. Halibut is great on grill too. Be experimental and try something new!
  • Workouts – Try doing your cardio exercise during afternoon. Try different weight routine in your favorite gym like kettle bells or resistance bands. And don’t forget dry brushing during Phase 3, it is a simple yet amazing detox tool.
  •  Check-up – Read your FMD book again. Review about the three phases and four weeks again. Check yourself, have you been eating 30 min after waking? Are you following the correct foods to eat during each phase? Lots of the followers realized their own mistakes after re-reading the book. Some of their mistakes are not eating the proper fruits, veggies and meals during each phase.

Please don’t get discouraged now! If you haven’t lost quite of your weight, focus on how your body feels – and on the wonderful nutrients you gained from what you have been eating. Have you been sleeping better now? Did you notice great effects on your skin? How about your hair, does it become stronger and shinier? Check your mood, is it more stable? Weight loss is just another wonderful effect of The Fast Metabolism Diet but the most important is you’re restraining your body to extract more nutrients more efficiently.

So don’t stop now! Especially if you are not yet done with the 28-days to reboot and renew. Your body isn’t done repairing you yet. There are still many things you will experience within that 28 days so don’t quit!

How fast should I lose weight

Siba Guzha
HELLO. When we join a gym or decide we want to lose some excess weight, we tend to want to do it in the fastest time possible. We go on yoyo diets and extreme exercise routines to lose the weight.

But as anxious as you may be to shed pounds rapidly, there is peril in falling for rapid weight-loss plans such as fasting diets or juicing schemes. Severely slashing calories may help you flush pounds fast in the beginning, but in the long run you compromise your health--and even your future weight.

Safe weight loss happens at the rate of 500grams to 1kg per week, according to Harvard Medical School, so dropping 5kgs should take between five and 10 weeks. Any plan that promises more is probably a bad decision, regardless of celebrity endorsements and other tricks.

So what’s the problem with rapid weight loss? Getting thinner should make you healthier, right? First of all, when you lose more than a couple of pounds per week you lose muscle and bone tissue along with fat. Bone mass is something you want to preserve or increase, not diminish, in order to keep your frame strong and avoid osteoporosis as you grow older.

Losing muscle mass is also problematic for multiple reasons. Obviously, your body grows weaker with less muscle, and everyday tasks may become more difficult to perform. Plus, muscle burns calories 24 hours a day, so the more muscle tissue you have, the faster your resting metabolism becomes. While losing muscle may lead to a temporary dip in the scale, it could slow your metabolism enough to make weight maintenance more difficult later on.

Beyond muscles, your metabolism is likely to wind down significantly with extreme weight loss. Your body enters starvation mode when deprived of adequate calories because it strives to conserve needed energy. As soon as you start to eat a normal diet again (and you will), the pounds will pile right back on. And you may end up weighing more than when you started dieting in the first place.

The healthiest way to lose the recommended weight per week is to eat about 1,500 calories per day if you’re female or about 2,000 calories per day if you’re male. This will help ensure adequate nutrition while still allowing you to easily burn more calories than you eat each day, which is how you lose weight. Even with a sensible eating plan, however, you may lose muscle mass without working out. Therefore, it’s especially important to perform cardiovascular exercise, which burns plenty of calories while toning muscles, and strength training, which builds new muscle as well as stronger bones. And ladies, don’t worry about adding too much bulk--women usually lack the hormones necessary to build massive brawn.

If you need more incentive to avoid deprivation diets and lose weight the healthy way, consider your sanity. You’ll be much happier on a reasonable diet and exercise plan than with an unsatisfying crash diet. Come in and speak to one of our professionals about a healthy diet plan for you. Remember this is not a quick fix but an overall lifestyle change to lead you to a healthier, happier YOU! Stay Fit!

The Fast Metabolism Diet Phase 2 Recipe Ginger Lemon Gummy Squares

The Fast Metabolism Diet Phase 2 Recipe

This easy-to-make gelatin-based variation of lemon, lime and ginger is allowed to use as your protein snack in Phase 2 of the Fast Metabolism Diet. Ginger is added because of its anti-inflammatory properties.

The following recipe can make about 50 1-inch squares; 10 squares is a Phase 2 snack. Preparation time is 5 minutes and the total time is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Ingredients:
  •          1 cup water
  •          ½ cup plain, grass-fed beef gelatin (such as Great Lakes Brand)
  •          1 teaspoon liquid stevia (or to taste)
  •          1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  •          1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice

Boil the cup of water. At the same time, mix the gelatin, stevia and ginger into the lemon juice until it smoothen.

Next, add the boiling water and continue to whip until the mixture smoothens.

Then, pour the mixture into an 8”x8” cake pan and put it on a fridge for 1 hour and 15 minutes, until mixture is firm.

You may use spatula to remove the harden gelatin, and you may place it on a cutting board. To cut into 1-inch squares, you may use pizza cutter or knife.

Lastly, keep it refrigerated for it is best served super cold from the fridge.

The Fast Metabolism Diet Struggle in Phase 2

While youre feeling fabulous on phase 1 and 3, a lot of the fast metabolism dieters are struggling in Phase 2 in the fast metabolism diet program.

the fast metabolism diet phase 2

Why do we feel some aches, pains, flu-like symptoms, or simply, this phase certainly drains our energy out? Here are the main reasons why youre feeling all of these.
1. Your body is undergoing through detoxification and releasing those fats and a lot of toxins.
Your body releases all of your historical fats, those long deposited toxins out of your body. When all of these fats and toxins is released into your bloodstream, your liver and bowels are working hard to eliminate them in your body. Its important to support these organs to function very well. By supporting these organs it can help you ease the symptoms you are experiencing. Follow these guidelines to support your organs to function very well.
> Eat tons of alkaline veggies
If you had noticed in this phase it is pure of veggies its because these alkalizing veggies helps your body to have the necessary nutrients needed in releasing those toxins and eliminating them in your body.
> Milk thistle tea
It can help your liver to better process fat soluble toxins. Alvita Milk Thistle tea is a great tea to drink in this phase.
> Chlorella
It helps absorb toxins in the GI tract and let them pass easier. Its recommended to look for a brand that is soy, wheat or corn free. You can have the Sun Chlorella brand.
> Bentonite clay
It helps to bind toxins and act likes a mop in your GI tract.
2. Your micronutrient balance is off
Because of the meal map on phase 2, your micronutrient is limited than the other phase. Thats why it is really important to eat alkalizing veggies to balance out the acidity of anial protein. Here are the things you can do to balance your micronutrients.
> Eat lots of lemon and lime
> Take Broad multivitamins
You can take Haylies My Metabolism Ready to help smooth out the bumps and fill the micronutrients youre not getting enough.
> Take a potassium supplement
It can balance your electrolytes and support pH balance

Dont give us the Phase 2 just because youre not feeling well. It will just last in 2 days, you can do it! Just think that youre experiencing this because your body is undergoing an awesome transformation. It detoxifies and cleanses your body and help your metabolism to be on fire! In order to live a healthy life, we should clean our body first with Phase 2!

The Fast Metabolism Diet Phase 1 Recipe Buckwheat Pancake

Fast Metabolism Diet Phase 1 Recipe

Grains are naturally gluten-free so its safe to indulge with them while on Fast Metabolism Diet however we must be selective with the kind of grains to eat.

There are many kinds of grains like barley, brown rice, quinoa, teff. We will try this great tasting pancake recipe made of buckwheat.

Ingredients:

1 cup buckwheat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. stevia extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white, beaten
1 cup rice milk
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Combine the dry ingredients in a big bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the egg, milk, oil and vanilla. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well. In a nonstick skillet or griddle, use 1/4 cup batter for each pancake. Cook about 2 minutes or until little bubbles start to pop on the top. Flip and cook for another minute or two or until brown.

Makes 8 medium-sized pancakes. Double the recipe for a crowd.

Vegans or those avoiding eggs can use an egg substitute like Ener-G in place of the egg and it works just fine.

Fast Lose Weight with 5 Foods

While there’s no such thing as the perfect diet, there are key foods that research has shown can help you lose weight. These foods work in different ways and for different reasons, but all have in common that people who eat them as part of a weight loss plan lose more weight faster than those who don’t. Here are 5 foods shown in recent studies to help the pounds come off more quickly. More foods to come as the studies come out.

Fast Lose Weight with 5 Foods
1. Pistachios:  These nuts are the perfect snack for the weight-conscious because they’re high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Don’t be fooled by the “fat” label, either; the fat in pistachios is unsaturated fat, the brain- and heart-healthy type.

Calorie counts are misleading too; not all calories are created equal. Researchers from the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition followed two groups of people on identical low-calorie diets for 12 weeks. One group ate 240 calories worth of pistachios as their afternoon snack, the other ate 220 calories worth of pretzels. The BMI (body mass indexes) of the pistachio group showed more improvement, and their cholesterol and triglyceride levels dropped as well. While shelled pistachios are more convenient, the longer amount of time required to shell them yourself makes the snack more satisfying.

2. Mushroom: The rich, meaty taste and texture makes them an ideal meat substitute, and cutting out at least some of the meat in your diet can be a powerful weight loss strategy. Last week a research team from the Weight Management Center at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health demonstrated this effect in a study showing that substituting mushrooms for meat in one meal a day resulted in a significant weight loss.

Researchers followed 73 participants, primarily 40-something women, for a full year in a randomized trial and found that the mushroom group was consuming 173 fewer calories and 4.5 grams less fat a day, leading them to lose an average of 7 pounds each. Let’s note that this study was funded by the mushroom council; many weight loss food studies are, in fact, funded by groups representing producers and marketers of that food.

3. Yogur: This one’s not news, but the research continues to come in. One of the most impressive studies on nutrition and weight loss, conducted by Darius Mozzafarian of Harvard and published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found yogurt to be a surprisingly important factor distinguishing people who maintain their weight as they age and those who gain relentlessly over time.

Using data from the enormous Nurses Health Study, Mozzafarian and his team analyzed the eating habits of more than 120,000 people to find commonalities between those who gained weight as they aged, and those who maintained their youthful silhouettes. Of all the foods linked with weight loss, yogurt ranked the highest. (Potato chips and potatoes themselves came in the highest for weight gain.) Scientists don’t know yet why yogurt seems so consistently linked with thinness, but are looking into the possibility that the healthy gut flora promoted by yogurt’s beneficial probiotics may play a role. (It’s also possible, though, that yogurt simply tends to be a staple of the diets of health-conscious people.)

4. Oat Bran: Oat bran is a key element in the Dukan diet popularized by Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lopez and others over the past year. In the UK and Europe, where this diet is a high-profile fad, people carry oat bran around with them to comply with the diet’s very specific requirement of 3 tablespoons a day. The Dukan Diet has even branded its own oat bran and oat bran bars. Oat bran has been easy for continental dieters to adopt because oat bran bars have been in the purses of dieting French women for decades. (I remember trying the dry zweiback-like bran bars for sale in the diet sections of French pharmacies in the early 1990s and wondering how people could stand them.)

So what’s all the fuss, and does oat bran work as promised? In general, yes, but mainly due to benefits that you can replicate with other foods. Oat bran is very high in fiber, so it makes you feel full and aids in speedy elimination. Oat bran, like oats themselves, also absorbs fats, which is why it’s recommended by doctors to lower cholesterol. While you’re welcome to try oat bran bars and see if you like them, you can get much the same benefit by following my previous advice and eating a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast every day.

5. Olive Oil: How can a fat help you eat less fat? Because olive oil is monounsaturated, making it a healthy part of the endlessly recommended Mediterranean diet. But more specifically because according to research at the University of Irvine, the oleic acid in olive oil is transformed in the small intestine into a compound called OEA (full name oleoylethanolamide) that relieves hunger and suppresses appetite by sending signals to your brain telling it you’re full.

Dress all those healthy salads you’re eating as part of your weight-loss plan with olive oil, and you’ll be doubling the benefit of all those antioxidant-rich veggies. A full analysis of all of the health-boosting benefits of olive oil is available from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition here.

Your Life after the Fast Metabolism Diet Program

fast metabolism diet

After I finish the fast metabolism diet program, where do I go now?

I bet you already asked yourself this question, havent you? You might be wondering where you go now, what directions you will be taking after the program. With completing the program, you might be excited or anxious on what to do next. But ease your worries; the fast metabolism diet program doesnt just end with the 28 day cycle. Remember that the fast metabolism diet program’s main goal is, to get your metabolism on fire. This program will guide you for a lifetime.

Remember that before you even started this program, you already set your goals. You had set what will be your target or goal weight at the end of the program. Now that you’ve already completed the program, ask yourself: Did you achieve your goal? Did you achieve your goal weight? If yes, Congratulations! You may skip this part and proceed to the next section! If not, you can add a week or two, or go in several 28-day cycles. Or you can take a little break and start again. It all depends on you. The important thing is you keep healing and keeping your metabolism on fire until you reached your goal weight!

If you had reached your goal weight, you can choose from the following strategies that will serve as your Phase 4 of the program.

1. Modified Phase 3
            - Eat like you’re in the Phase 3 but you may include any or all of the food lists for any phase that you wished to eat. Example for this is you may keep eating grains for breakfast and dinner, but not lunch. This is because we want your body to burn foods that are harder to digest like protein and fats. Instead, eat fruit and grains with breakfast and lunch. Keep eating your two snacks per day and keep on exercising. You can also add some desserts during your workout.

2.  Keep doing the phases with modifications.
You can stick to the three phases youve undergone. But now you can cook with healthy oils in any phase. You can add oil in a salad dressing for Phase 1. In Phase 2 you can now add oil in cooking and so as Phase 3.

3. Stick to the fast metabolism diet longer
If you want it to be simple and somewhat afraid to make a change for fear of “getting off from the diet” you can just stick to the 28 day cycle and repeat it for a week, two weeks or a month.

What about foods that werent on the diet? Can I eat them now?
You can now eat those foods back into your life but make sure that it is organic and cleanest possible choices of food. No fake foods, no fake sweeteners, colors or chemicals!  Example for this food is dairy. Dairy products and cheese from goat or sheep’s milk is preferable than cow’s milk as they are easier to digest. You can also try alternative flours for baking that aren’t wheat based. If possible, eliminate caffeine in your life. Caffeine stresses your adrenal glands and screw up your metabolism. For other foods, limit your use of packaged foods and make sure to check the ingredients list first. Focus on eating realfood.

fast metabolism diet life changing stories

"Hi. I am very pleased with the results of the diet. I have been on it now for two months. I am a senior woman with a bad knee so I cannot exercise as much as I would like but even so, I have lost over 15 lbs. This is the first success in dieting for me so needless to say I am very happy. Being unable to walk long distances or do much in the way of physical exercise limits my ability to use up a lot of energy but the Fast Metabolism Diet has allowed me to wear my clothes with more comfort and to lose the excess weight that had accumulated over the past two years.
Thank you so much.
A happy dieter." -
Frieda H. Byrd

"Last spring I was at a baby shower and a relative told me about the FMD. Even though she was at a party she was eating a wonderful variety of foods from the luncheon buffet. I went home that night night ordered the book and spent the next week digesting everything I read. It all made sense. My 60th birthday was two months away and I was determined to loose some weight as I didnt want to be an over weight grandma who couldnt keep up with the grandkids. I had tried many diets and nothing seemed to make a difference. Both my husband and I love to cook and cook healthy so the diet was a great fit. We made a shopping list and a menu calendar for the week. We spent a weekend cooking and freezing and we were ready! In the first 28 days I lost 18 lbs and felt great and best of all my blood work showed that my cholesterol was finally under control. On maintenance (I eat all the foods all week) I have lost a total of 22 lbs. I am so grateful for this plan and now have 5 converts. Two of them are in my office which makes it so much fun because we share recipes and tips. We all use the app and read the blog. Thank you Haylie!" - Phyllis

" Lost 17 lbs first 26 days
Celebrating with wine Tonite !!! ( drank the whole bottle )
Cooked 32 meals for next 2 weeks while "celebrating" today.
No guilt here ..
Next 28 starts Monday
30 lbs to go" - Charlene Knight

"In February, I found myself on the edge of an unhealthy abyss. I had struggled with weight issues for years, brought on by unhealthy eating, off and on dieting, and the effects of multiple sclerosis that had limited my physical abilities and caused near constant fatigue. My weight had reached 275 pounds and my MS was winning its battle against my body. I was also fighting high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a heart arrhythmia. Lets just say I didnt see a long life ahead of me. And I was getting tired of buying larger clothes!
Thats when I heard about The Fast Metabolism Diet from former colleagues. At first read, it seemed intimidating and the thought of giving up cheese, chocolate and caffeine was not appealing. But I knew I had to make a change for me to have a future. So I jumped in and collaborated with friends to have a support system. My weight loss came fast initially. Then I hit the plateaus. Along the way, the "diet" faded away and it became my way of living.
As I lost weight, my health got better. No more high blood pressure or cholesterol. The heart arrhythmia went away. My MS was completely under control. My neurologist said to keep doing whatever it was that I was doing as there were no visible signs of the disease and my fatigue was gone.
As friends saw my physical transformation, many joined the FMD team. I was proud to introduce them to something that had changed my life. I was moved by one friend who works as a cancer research nurse. She started the diet because of me and began sharing the diet with her patients. I began to see how FMD could change so many lives besides my own.
Today, Im physically active. Im working out five times a week because this plan helped me get to where I can. I started running recently and plan to run a half marathon for my birthday in January.
The weight loss has been awesome. I weigh 205 pounds today. The weight is important. It was holding me back and contributing to myriad health issues. But more important is how I feel. I have more energy. I like what I see in the mirror. I love the foods I eat. I rarely miss my old bad habits or foods that slow down my metabolism.
I am proud to be an FMD disciple. It changed my life and Ive seen it do the same for others. Nothing in life is easy. But the FMD plan makes it that way if youll give it an honest go." - Jeff Holeman.
